Absolute for God, Ben Shih

Perhaps I was not always this way, but at some point in my life I decided that I wanted to be a person characterized as absolute. Regardless of the activity, pursuit, or cause, I wanted to follow through on it in an absolute way. If I began it, I had to finish it. So when I finally surrendered myself to the Lord Jesus to pursue Him in my Christian life and to serve Him, attending the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA) was a must.

When I came to the FTTA, I thought I was absolute for God. Sure, I had many defects and shortcomings, but because I was so absolute, I was also open to be trained and helped by the Lord through the Training. Now that I am near graduation, I have really learned that in the entire universe there is only One who is absolute for God. If there is anything I have learned in the Training, it is that I am absolutely for myself, but Christ is absolutely for God because He is God and is one with God to accomplish His heart's desire.

I really thank God for leading me to the FTTA. Not only have I been shown that I cannot be absolute for God, for God's interest, and for God's people, but I have also been shown that the absolute, God-pleasing life of Jesus can be lived out and repeated in hopeless cases such as myself. With all of the eye-opening classes, experiences in campus ministry, corporate living arrangements, and scheduled personal times of prayer and fellowship with the Lord, the Training has truly helped me to begin a life of dependence on God. The sooner that I can realize that I am nothing and that Christ is everything, the sooner I can live a life absolute for God and His interests on earth today. I thank the Lord for leading me and bringing me through the FTTA and I pray that many more young people who are “absolute” for God would receive His leading to come.
